Police Hunt for Suspect in Assault on Elderly Woman at Lenox Hill Grocery Store

Authorities in New York are searching for a man accused of attacking an 86-year-old woman inside a supermarket in Lenox Hill.

According to the NYPD, the incident occurred at 1:25 p.m. on March 23 at Morton Williams Supermarkets, situated at 1066 3rd Ave. The elderly woman was approached by an unidentified individual who shoved her from behind, causing her to collapse onto the floor.

The assailant then escaped on foot, last seen heading south along 3rd Avenue.

The victim sustained injuries to her left eye and back, and also suffered several broken teeth due to the fall. Paramedics transported her to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she remains in stable condition.

Police describe the suspect as a man with a dark complexion, last spotted wearing a gray and burgundy jacket, a dark hoodie, gray sweatpants, and gray shoes.
